Girls volleyball team wins first championship

Congratulations to the Chicago City Day School girls volleyball A-team, which took home a first-place trophy on Oct. 30 after winning the postseason championship match.

It is the first volleyball title for City Day.

"I'm so excited about winning the championship," said Page Dow, one of the team's coaches. "The girls worked so hard and deserved it. What I'm even more proud of is that these girls have found something that THEY can be proud of, an area where they can feel confident. That is a powerful thing."

City Day's A-team, which consists of seventh- and eighth-graders, finished the regular season with an 11-1 record. The team won the title game by taking the first two sets, including an exciting come-from-behind victory in the first.

"This team deserves all the credit," said Donny Ramos, the other volleyball coach. "The fell in love with the game and worked incredibly hard for it. I hope they all continue to create moments like this for themselves in the future."

City Day's volleyball B-team and its boys soccer team also finished their seasons this week with strong postseason performances. Again, congrats and thank you to all of our student athletes and coaches.
