City Day girls basketball brings home championship

The young players on Chicago City Day School's girls basketball B-team hoisted a championship trophy this week after winning the title game in the postseason tournament.

The B-team, which consists of fifth- and sixth-graders, led the game from the opening tip-off. It's the second first-place finish for a City Day sports team this school year; the girls volleyball A-team won a title in the fall.

"These girls gave their best effort and took pride in the team's performance," B-team basketball coach Donny Ramos said. "They're an unselfish team that plays great defense and supports one another. I'm so proud of them."

The B-team victory capped off a strong season for City Day basketball overall. The girls' A-team, which features seventh- and eighth-graders, narrowly missed earning a trophy of their own in the tournament. And the boys' teams demonstrated determination, resilience, and camaraderie throughout the season.

Congrats and thank-you to all of our 2026 basketball players and coaches!
