Chicago City Day School's recent 5K Walk & Fun Run event was about community, camaraderie, and lots of color.
The annual fundraiser, held on May 20, had more than 100 City Day parents, teachers, students, and alumni walking or running the 5K course in Lincoln Park to support the school.
Cheers rang out for the walkers and runners as they burst out of the starting gate and as they approached the finish line, with some of the loudest expressions of support erupting for the youngest participants, including some City Day students in kindergarten and first grade.
An addition to this year's event was an activity derived from Holi, the Indian Festival of Colors, which marks the arrival of spring and celebrates goodwill among people. After the 5K, City Day students, staff members, and parents danced and coated each other with colored powder, a traditional Holi activity. A City Day parent provided drone footage of the activity.
Thank you to all the City Day staffers and parents who organized the event and volunteered time to run it — it was a great example of the City Day spirit in action! See images from the day below.
