Spirit high at City Day's 5K fundraiser

On a picture-perfect Saturday morning, Chicago City Day School students, teachers, parents, and alumni supported their school by participating in the annual City Day 5K Fun Run & Walk.

More than 200 people signed up to participate in the fundraising event, which took place on May 9 in Lincoln Park. Cheers rang out for the walkers and runners alike as they burst out of the starting gate.

The 5K event is one of City Day's beloved spring traditions. Fundraising remains a key component of the event, with proceeds from the day supporting the elementary school's programming. Beyond that, the 5K is a celebration of City Day's unique spirit and tight-knit community.

For the fourth straight year, the 5K was followed by a celebration of Holi, the Indian Festival of Colors, which marks the arrival of spring and celebrates goodwill among people. City Day students and parents gleefully coated each other with colored powder, a traditional Holi activity.

Thank you to all the City Day staffers and parents who organized the event and volunteered time to run it — it was a great example of the City Day spirit in action!
