At Chicago City Day School, the final "bell" of the day is really just the beginning.
For some students, the end of the school day means it's time to lace up their ice skates and head to the campus ice rink. For others, it's time to practice their French baking skills. Another group of students assembles in the art room to create new masterpieces.

Welcome to City Day's After-School Program!
Each season (fall, winter, spring), City Day offers an eclectic array of activities that students can enjoy after dismissal. These activities, led by City Day teachers, allows students to explore interests beyond the regular school curriculum. It also gives students in different grades another opportunity to work and play together.
Finally, the programming helps strengthen student-teacher bonds, as students get to know teachers in a new way by learning about their passions and hobbies.

The winter 2026 offerings are a typically diverse mix, including origami, Lego games, a "bootcamp" games & fitness class, and the aforementioned ice skating & French baking, among others. This year, the fall offerings included flag football, tap dancing, and line dancing.

The After-School Program at City Day underscores the school's commitment to engage and inspire children in a variety of ways! See more photos from the winter programs below.
