Teachers and staff at Chicago City Day School were delighted to welcome students back to campus on Sept. 14.
The school year looks and feels different than any in our 40-year history. Everyone on campus — students, teachers, staff — wears masks throughout the day. Temperature checks and hand sanitizing are part of everyone's daily routine. Popular common spaces like the after-school play room and the Shorey Shop are not being used.
Still, the mood on campus is happy, as classes use outdoor spaces more and re-engage with in-person learning. Our "specials" teachers have adapted to current conditions by visiting classes in their homerooms, rather than having students move from room to room inside the building. And the most important part of the City Day experience has not changed at all — our uniquely rigorous and compassionate program, brought to life by dedicated teachers.
