The School has a long-standing commitment to unique technology education, i.e. shop. Students are introduced to the “maker” culture beginning in first grade. Shop classes focus on theory and applications. Expansive facilities allow for state-of-the-art robotics and 3-D printing. Researching models of transportation, power and energy, and construction and manufacturing, students design and build projects using a variety of tools, hardware, and materials.
Basic drafting skills are taught throughout the grades. Popular projects include construction of electric circuitry, Rube Goldberg machines, solar-powered vehicles, and model homes. City Day graduates become true “makers,” demonstrating confidence and skill in a shop setting.
